I accepted Jesus as my personal savior and Lord on 5th September 2014. It has been ten years since I first confessed my sins to God and decided to walk after Him. Since then, I have experienced many trials and temptations, days of sorrow and joy. There were days when I had neglected God and days when I was in awe of Him. Please know that I am writing this blog not as an expert Christian but as your (elder) brother in Christ who wants to see you grow in faith.
Consider my two cents:
Try your best to start your day with God’s Word
Even though it might seem to not affect that day when you read the Bible every day, it builds your character. It is not just an intellectual exercise, but it is also a practice that shapes your beliefs and helps you increase your dependence on God.
Reading God’s word daily will help you to identify your false beliefs, change you from within, help you face temptations and fight them, and also help you overcome your sins. These are just some of the benefits of reading God’s Word.
Pray Unceasingly
In 1 Thess. 5:17, Paul tells us to pray without ceasing. When I read this verse, it changed my P.O.V. of prayer. I applied it in this way: I should not just pray once a day; rather, I should pray as much and as often as I can throughout the day.
Are you unable to find that notebook? Pray about it. Are you not able to remember that answer? Pray about it. Going for a job interview? Pray about it. Are you sick? Pray about it. Pray about anything and everything and watch how God transforms your (prayer) life!
Attend Fellowships regularly
Christian Fellowships have been likened to a group of burning coals. If one of the coal is taken away from the other coals, it stops burning. In the same way, if you are neglecting fellowship, soon your fiery love for God will diminish. So, don’t skip fellowship.
By the way, when I speak of fellowship, I don’t limit it to just church. Beyond church, attend Bible Study meetings of your church, have fellowship with fellow mature believers, etc.
Share Jesus
“If you had a cure for cancer, would you keep it to yourself? No, right? Then why do you keep Jesus, who is the cure to sin and death and hell, to yourself?” This is so thought-provoking. When we share Jesus, we are partaking in the extension of the Kingdom of God. And when we do that, we are bringing the return of the Lord Jesus nearer. Think about that!
