In this busy world, it is hard to even glance through the Bible each day, let alone sit down and try to study it. However, we ought not to treat it with negligence. Here are seven reasons why we should study God’s Word.
1. It is the Word of God
The Bible is divinely inspired, conveying God's messages through human authors. It is the prophetic word made more certain (2 Peter 1:19-21); hence, it provides believers with a reliable foundation of faith, showing God's will and plan for the entire humanity.
2. Not Just to know about God but to know God
Studying the Bible goes beyond acquiring knowledge about God's acts and attributes; it helps build a personal relationship with Him. Through Scripture, believers encounter God's character, love, and expectations, deepening their spiritual bond and understanding.
3. It is a Command of God
God commands in Deuteronomy 6:5-6, that His people love Him with all their heart, soul, and might, and to keep His words in their hearts. How do you love someone when you don’t know anything about them? Therefore, regular engagement with Scripture helps believers to live out this command, implanting His teachings into their daily lives.
4. It is a Guiding Light, Providing Direction and Clarity in our life
According to Psalms 119:105, the Word of God is a lamp to our feet. It illuminates the path believers should follow. By meditating on God's word, individuals gain wisdom and clarity to navigate life's challenges and make righteous decisions.
5. Helps us to Verify the Truth
The Bereans in Acts 17:10-11 were commended for examining the Scriptures daily to verify Paul's teachings. Similarly, studying the Bible allows believers to discern truth from falsehood, ensuring that their beliefs and practices align with God's word.
6. Testifies about Jesus and the Way to Eternal Life
In John 5:39, Jesus emphasized that the Scriptures testify about Him, revealing the way of Eternal Life. Through the Bible, believers learn about Jesus' life, death, and resurrection, understanding how to attain eternal life through faith in Him.
7. Scripture is inspired by God and equips individuals for Righteous Living and Good Works
2 Timothy 3:16-17 talks of how all Scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness. It thoroughly equips believers for every good work, shaping them into mature, competent followers of Christ who live out their faith in practical ways.
In light of all these and many other reasons, it is evident that we ought to study the Word of God. So, we have designed this special webinar, called Inductive Bible Study, which focuses on studying God’s Word.
