When it comes to Bible Reading, many people have lots of excuses.
“I don’t have enough time.”
We completely understand that life can be busy, and finding extra time feels impossible. But even a few minutes with God’s Word can bring peace and clarity to the busiest of days. Think of it as investing in your well-being and your relationship with God—it’s less about the quantity of time and more about the quality.
Jesus said, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
Spending even a moment in Scripture is an opportunity to find that rest.
“The Bible is too hard to understand.”
That’s a very common feeling, and you’re not alone. The Bible is deep, but that’s because it holds so much wisdom! There are many translations, like the NLT or NIV, that are easier to read. And remember, you don’t have to figure it out on your own—God promises to help us understand.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him” (James 1:5).
Trust that God will guide you as you seek Him.
“I’m not religious, so it’s not for me.”
We hear where you’re coming from, but the Bible is much more than a religious book—it’s about life, love, and purpose. It speaks to our deepest questions and longings, whether or not we consider ourselves religious. God’s Word is His love letter to humanity, and it’s for everyone.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). That includes YOU.
“The Bible is outdated and irrelevant.”
It might feel that way at first, but the Bible’s truths are timeless because they come from God, who doesn’t change. It addresses things we all wrestle with—love, forgiveness, fear, and purpose. Jesus’ teachings on loving your neighbor, forgiving others, and seeking justice are as relevant today as they were 2,000 years ago.
“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever” (Isaiah 40:8).
Its relevance lies in its eternal truth.
“I don’t know where to start.”
That’s a great question and starting can feel overwhelming. But you don’t have to read it all at once! That’s why we made this Bible Reading Plan. Just download it and follow along.
Remember, every journey begins with a single step, and God will bless even your smallest effort to know Him.
This plan is designed in such a way that you don’t have to read a lot. With just 2 chapters a day, you can finish the entire Old Testament, except Psalms. Since we had already included Psalms in our previous years’ Bible Reading Plan (which you can access from here), this plan includes only the Old Testament excluding the book of Psalms. But we encourage you to read a chapter a day of Psalms along with this plan, and you can complete the entire Old Testament this year.
Always remember to pray and start reading the Bible. Here’s a short prayer:
“Open my eyes, that I may behold Wonderful things from Your law.” Psalm 119:18
